Digital Marketing for Cosmetics E-Commerce: Making ROAS Sustainable

Smartkid is an Istanbul-based digital marketing agency that grows the online sales of cosmetics brands, and we have published cases in this field: we took one cosmetics brand's ROAS from 0.8 to above 8 and lifted it to a daily revenue level of one million TL; on DrXdion's move to Shopify we improved site speed by 78% and increased conversion 2.4×; with Anaaka we ran a luxury care brand's entry into the Turkish market end to end. In cosmetics e-commerce, sustainable ROAS is not hidden in a single campaign setting; it lies in product data, site experience, channel balance and the repeat purchase system working together.

The Four Layers That Determine ROAS in Cosmetics E-Commerce

For most brands the ad account is not the problem itself, but the place where the problem becomes visible. When ROAS is low, the cause usually sits in one of four layers: product data and feed quality, site experience and the cart flow, channel balance (the balance between your own site and the marketplace), and the repeat purchase system. Before optimizing the campaign, we audit these four layers and start where the loss is greatest.

Why Smartkid?

Take a Look at Smartkid’s Dedicated Digital Marketing Solutions as You Grow Your Cosmetics E-Commerce

At Smartkid we know that profit in cosmetics e-commerce does not come from a single campaign; it comes from product data, site experience, channel balance and repeat purchase working together. The ad account is only one link in that chain.

The Right Agency

What Should You Look For When Choosing an Agency for Your Cosmetics E-Commerce Brand?

In cosmetics e-commerce, the difference an agency makes shows up not in ad panel settings but in its ability to see the whole chain, from product data through to repeat purchase. Ask your candidate this: can it touch the feed and Merchant Center side, does it measure the site experience and come back with improvement recommendations, can it plan the marketplace balance, and does it have a published cosmetics case? Our cosmetics cases are published on the site, numbers included.

Our Recipe

Our Digital Marketing Services for Cosmetics E-Commerce Brands

Growth in cosmetics e-commerce does not come from switching the ads on; it comes from building the chain that runs from data to the site, from the site to the campaign, and from the campaign to repeat purchase. We package our services to cover every link in that chain.

🔍

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

We structure your category and product pages around search intent and grow organic traffic with ingredient- and concern-led content clusters. With technical SEO, site speed and product schema work, we turn the organic channel into a growth source independent of the ad budget.

📱

Social Media Management

We build the brand's day-to-day visibility with application videos, user content and routine walkthroughs. We match the content calendar to the campaign calendar and connect the flow of comments, messages and collaborations to sales.

📈

Performance Advertising

We split Google and Meta campaigns into brand, category and remarketing layers, and audit the Merchant Center feed and shopping campaigns regularly. We manage the budget not for one-off ROAS but for sustainable growth that also feeds repeat purchase.

Data, Feed and Measurement Infrastructure

We set up Merchant Center feed health, product schema, conversion tracking and email/SMS automations together. Which product sold from which campaign, which channel produced repeat purchase — the reporting is designed to answer those questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetics E-Commerce Marketing

What counts as a good ROAS in cosmetics e-commerce?

There is no single right number: product margin, shipping and return rates, average cart value and repeat purchase rate set the target. For brands with high margins and strong repeat purchase, a ROAS of 3-4 can be profitable, while in low-margin categories the same figure can mean a loss. We set the target by calculating it from your product economics.

Our ROAS is low; what should we look at first?

Four layers, before the ad account: product data and feed health, site speed and the cart flow, channel balance and the repeat purchase system. In most brands the loss sits in those layers; a campaign setting on its own does not cover a structural problem.

We also sell on the marketplace; how do we grow our own site?

The marketplace brings volume and discovery; your own site brings margin and the customer relationship. We set the price and campaign policy so the two channels do not work against each other, and encourage direct purchase with sets, gifts and subscription advantages exclusive to your own site.

Does moving to Shopify increase conversion?

The platform alone works no magic; the difference comes from speed, product management and the checkout flow being put right along with the move. In our DrXdion project, the move to Shopify produced a 78% improvement in site speed and a 2.4× increase in conversion; what delivered the result was not the move itself but the order established with it.

How many months until we see results?

For most brands, the clean-up on the feed and site side creates a measurable difference in the first weeks; the campaign structure settling in and the repeat purchase flows starting to work is usually a two-to-three-month process. We plan the first month as audit and correction, and what follows as scaling.
