International Freight Forwarding: Selling Proof to the Corporate Buyer

In international transport the person across the table is not an individual consumer but a company's logistics or procurement manager — and their job is not to make mistakes. For them, choosing the wrong forwarder is not an extra cost but a halted production line and a delay that has to be explained. That is why they decide on proof before price: the Transport Operations Organizer (TİO) authorization certificate, memberships such as UTİKAD, SHGM agency authorization and IATA accreditation in air cargo, route coverage and customs capability. The job of marketing is to make that chain of proof visible, complete and easy to understand.

What Is the Corporate Buyer Looking At?

On this side the purchasing decision does not belong to one person, and it usually runs through a quotation or tender process. A piece of proof found missing at the research stage drops the company off the list before it ever reaches the quotation stage.

Why Smartkid?

Take a Look at Smartkid's Solutions as You Grow Your Forwarding Business

The most common mistake on this side is turning the corporate site into a brochure: nice visuals, generic statements, nothing verifiable. A logistics manager will not request a quote from that site, because none of the answers they are looking for are there.

The Right Agency

What Should You Look For When Choosing an Agency in the Forwarding Business?

Ask your candidate about the TİO authorization certificate and the SHGM group distinction. If they don't know, they will market you like a generic haulage company and you will not get past the corporate buyer's filter.

Our Recipe

Our Services for Freight Forwarding and International Transport

We build the proof that gets you through the corporate buyer's filter, and we measure the quotation process.

🔍

Proof and Coverage Architecture

We organize your authorization certificates, memberships, airline and agency accreditations, routes and customs capability in the form the buyer will look for and find. On this side the strongest conversion element is verifiable information.

📱

Multilingual Site and Knowledge Section

We produce content in your counterparts' languages and build a knowledge section explaining Incoterms, transport mode selection and customs processes. That section both educates the buyer and gets cited in AI engines.

📈

B2B Demand and Quotation Flow

We bring LinkedIn, trade publications and search visibility into a single plan, and track step by step how an incoming quote request turns into a shipment.

🧲

Quote-to-Shipment Conversion and Client Volume

The number of quotes means little on its own; we report the rate at which quotes turn into shipments and the annual volume of the client you win. Because a single client here generates revenue for years, measurement is set up for the long term. Information on certificates and regulations is provided for guidance only; confirm your own authorization status and obligations with the relevant authority or with your advisor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Marketing for Freight Forwarders

Which authorization certificate and memberships does a forwarder need?

Companies that organize freight transport and carry out logistics operations such as warehousing, customs, insurance and distribution need a Transport Operations Organizer (TİO) authorization certificate. On top of that, umbrella-organization memberships such as UTİKAD are a basic credibility signal in the industry. In air cargo you also need to be a cargo agent authorized by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation; agents are divided into group A and group B according to their security practices. Information on certificates and regulations is provided for guidance only; confirm your own authorization status and obligations with the relevant authority or with your advisor.

What is a corporate client really looking at when they request a quote?

Price comes last on the list. The logistics manager's first filter is this: is this company legally authorized, does it really operate on my route, who will handle the customs side, and who do I talk to when something goes wrong. If the answers to those four questions are not on the site, you never even reach the quotation stage. Price competition only begins among the companies that get through that filter.

How should we describe our routes on our site?

Concretely. The phrase "service everywhere in the world" produces suspicion rather than trust in a corporate buyer, because an experienced buyer knows that no forwarder is equally strong on every route. What works is writing out your real routes, transfer points, typical transit times and the transport mode you are strongest in. It also helps AI engines show you for the right queries.

Is a multilingual site essential?

If you have counterparts abroad, yes. On this side some of the buyers are the shipping or receiving company abroad, and a Turkish-only site is effectively unreachable for them. Which languages you need is determined by your routes and client profile; rather than adding every language, it is better to produce complete content in the languages of the markets you actually do business in.

How is the return on digital investment measured on the B2B side?

Not by the number of quotes. The meaningful metrics here are the rate at which quotes turn into shipments, the annual freight volume of the client you win, and lifetime value per client. Because the sales cycle can run for months and a single corporate client can generate revenue for years, budget decisions based on monthly conversion rates come out systematically wrong in this sector.
