Carpet and Home Textile Exports: Arriving at the Fair Prepared

Turkey is a leading producer in global carpet exports, and most of that volume turns around the trade fair calendar. The international fairs in January set the year's first order wave; the Istanbul fair in May opens the second. In this industry, digital marketing's job is not to make online sales — it is to work so that the buyer already knows you, has booked an appointment with you and has verified your capacity before arriving at the fair. A brand that goes to a fair unprepared spends the most valuable weeks of the year waiting at a table.

The Buyer Has Half-Decided Before Arriving at the Fair

A chain's or a wholesaler's purchasing manager does not come to a fair to wander around at random; their calendar is full in advance and they decide weeks ahead which stands to visit. That selection happens in digital. A buyer who cannot find you, cannot verify your capacity or cannot see your collection does not put you on the list.

Why Smartkid?

Take a Look at Smartkid's Solutions as You Grow Your Export Channel

The most common mistake on this side is reducing the corporate site to a catalog PDF. When a buyer cannot find the information they are looking for, they move on to the next manufacturer; they do not call, they do not ask.

The Right Agency

What Should You Look For When Choosing an Agency on the Export Side?

Ask your candidate about the trade fair calendar. An agency that does not know when Heimtextil and Domotex take place will put your budget in the wrong month.

Our Recipe

Our Services for Exporters

We put the trade fair calendar at the center and build the proof that gets you through the buyer's filter.

🔍

Pre-Fair Appointment Campaign

In the weeks before the fair we reach buyers in your target markets, generate stand appointments and fill the calendar before you walk into the hall. This is digital's clearest measurable output in this industry.

📱

Capacity and Certificate Proof

We organize your production capacity, your lead time, your minimum order quantity and your certificates so that a buyer sees them at first glance. If that information is not on the site, the buyer never reaches the quotation stage.

📈

Multilingual Collection Architecture

We build a structure that presents products as collections and series rather than one by one, in the language of the target market and in line with how buyers search.

🧲

From Appointment to Order Tracking

Fair appointments, sample requests and the conversion of a sample into an order are tracked separately. Because the sales cycle on this side runs for months, measurement is set up on a cohort basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Export Marketing

How many months before a fair should we start preparing?

The appointment work needs to start at least six to eight weeks before the fair, because that is when buyers' calendars fill up. But preparation is not only appointments: the page where the buyer examines you, the collection presentation, the capacity information and the multilingual content all have to be ready by that date. In practice, sound preparation starts three to four months before the fair; whatever is done in the final week is only a reminder.

What does a buyer look at first on our site?

The answer to the question of whether you can produce it. In order: product groups and collections, production capacity and lead time, minimum order quantity, certificates and reference markets. Design and story come after all of that. If this information is not on the site, the buyer does not ask a question, they move on to the next manufacturer — which is why the contact form never shows this loss; you only see the traffic quietly leaving through analysis.

How should we present private label demand?

On a separate page and with a separate narrative. The products you sell under your own brand and the work you produce under the buyer's brand are two different offers, and when they are told on the same page both become blurred. On the private label side, what the buyer wants to know is clear: which stages do you handle, do you provide design support, what is the minimum quantity and how does the sampling process work.

Which languages should we produce content in?

Not all of them — the markets where you actually do business. English is the baseline on this side; beyond that, the choice should follow your export data. Six half-translated languages leave a weaker impression than two complete ones — a buyer reads translation quality as a sign of corporate seriousness.

How is the return on digital investment measured on this side?

Not by visit and form counts. The meaningful metrics are the number of fair appointments, sample requests, the rate at which a sample converts into an order, and the annual volume of the buyer you win. Because the sales cycle runs for months and a single chain customer can keep ordering for years, measurement must be set up on a cohort basis and over the long term.
